UC Berkeley’s first ever Intramural Global Health Case Competition – Applications due 1/31/16!

/ / Events

Calling all UC Berkeley students with an interest in global health! Apply to compete in UC Berkeley’s first ever Intramural Global Health Case Competition (UCB IGHCC)!

Open to both graduates and undergraduates, UCB IGHCC is a unique opportunity for UC Berkeley students from diverse academic departments & programs to unite and address real-world global health issues.

This competition seeks to select a team for the International Emory Global Health Case Competition. The winning team from our intramural will represent UC Berkeley as the returning champions of last year’s international competition, and compete against students from top universities around the globe for the chance to win $6000.

Modeled after the international competition, teams at UCB IGHCC will be presented with a case on a modern global health challenge and given one week to prepare a comprehensive, multidisciplinary solution. On competition day, teams will present their solutions to a judging panel of global health experts. There will be 2 rounds of presentations: 1) initial presentations in front of 2 – 3 judges in a closed conference room [some teams will be cut during this round] and 2) finalist presentations in front of the full panel of judges as well as audience members in an auditorium.

Team Requirements:
1) 4 – 6 registered UC Berkeley students (grad and/or undergrad)
2) Represent at least 3 academic colleges/schools at UC Berkeley (i.e., L&S is one “college”)
3) Be available on ALL competition dates listed below
Note: It is recommended that applicants form and apply as teams. If you do not have a team, access this spreadsheet (berkeley.edu email required) to search for teammates. You may apply as an individual but we are unable to guarantee individual placement in an eligible team.
